Border residents in Texas and Arizona overwhelmingly support former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris when it comes to securing the southern border, according to interviews conducted by Fox News Digital.
Residents living along the border expressed their confidence in Trump’s ability to address the border crisis, citing his previous actions in sending migrants back home. A rancher in Quemado, Texas, stated, “Donald Trump, without a doubt, because he did before, he started sending these folks back home.”
Similarly, a gun shop owner in Del Rio, Texas, enthusiastically declared, “100% Trump,” emphasizing that Trump’s border policies were more effective than those of the current Biden-Harris administration.
In contrast, residents expressed concerns about the open border policy of the Biden administration, with one Arivaca, Arizona resident stating, “Open border policy of the Biden administration affects our local community greatly, and I am definitely against open borders.”
A recent Fox News national survey found that nearly 9 in 10 voters view the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border as an emergency or a major problem, with increasing concern among various demographic groups. The survey also revealed that more blame is placed on the Biden administration for its lack of enforcement at the border compared to former President Trump and the Senate GOP for failed immigration legislation.
Trump holds a significant lead over Harris in terms of who is trusted most to tackle border security, according to the survey. Additionally, Harris has recently shifted her stance on the border wall, pledging to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to its construction if elected president.
Overall, residents along the southern border remain steadfast in their support for Trump’s approach to border security, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding immigration policies and border enforcement in the upcoming presidential election.
