A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris was removed from their duty after getting into a physical altercation with other agents while on duty at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. The incident, which occurred on Monday, did not delay Harris’ departure from the base, according to Fox News Digital.
The fight was first reported by The New York Post and later confirmed by a source to Fox News Digital. Anthony Guglielmi, the chief of communications for the U.S. Secret Service, described the incident as a “medical matter” and stated that the agency would not be providing further comments on the matter.
According to reports, the agent began displaying erratic behavior and started punching the special agent in charge after getting on top of him. The agent was eventually handcuffed and treated by medical staff following the altercation.
Despite the incident, Harris was not impacted and was able to depart from Joint Base Andrews as scheduled. The agent involved had reportedly been a cause for concern among staff prior to the altercation.
The U.S. Secret Service emphasized that the safety and health of their employees are of utmost importance and assured that they take such matters seriously. They have chosen not to disclose any further details regarding the incident.
