Detroit’s “most wanted” fugitive sex offender, Cory Alan Olson, was finally apprehended in Burien, Washington state, after a lengthy pursuit by law enforcement. Olson, who had been evading authorities since 2018, was using various aliases while on the run, making it difficult for detectives to track him down.
Detective Riley Myklebust, who played a crucial role in Olson’s capture, described the investigation as a “find me puzzle” due to the challenges posed by identity theft cases. Despite Olson’s attempts to conceal his true identity, fingerprints confirmed who he really was.
Olson’s criminal history includes sexual assault and evading arrest by injuring a deputy in a car crash. He had been living in Washington state under different names, targeting women with teenage daughters in various communities.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been a victim of Olson’s crimes to come forward and contact the police. Olson’s arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of public awareness in apprehending dangerous individuals with a history of repeated offenses.
