An American man who made threats against pop star Taylor Swift on social media has been detained ahead of her concert in Germany. The 34-year-old, whose name was not released by authorities, will be kept in custody in Gelsenkirchen until Saturday. The man had a ticket to Swift’s concert at Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena on Wednesday but was detained during entry checks to the arena due to the threats he made against Swift and her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Organizers for the Germany stop of “The Eras Tour” tipped off police to the threats, leading to the man’s detainment. Despite the incident, police claimed that there was no danger at any point to Swift or to the audience, and Wednesday evening’s concert, attended by about 60,000 people, went peacefully.
After her stops in Germany, Swift will continue her tour in Poland and Austria before returning to London for five additional shows beginning August 15. Swift confirmed that “The Eras Tour” will end in December, with her final show taking place at BC Place on December 8.
Swift acknowledged the end of the tour while performing her 100th show in Liverpool, England, stating, “This tour is gonna end in December.” She expressed gratitude to her fans for making the tour so enjoyable and revealed that the tour has become her “entire life.”
Swift’s tour will also include stops in Canada before concluding in the United States in October. The Grammy-award winning artist has been on the road since March 2023, entertaining fans around the world with her music and performances.
