The latest season of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off with a bang as two contestants faced the first dance-off of the year. Three-time Olympic champion Tom Dean and popstar Toyah Willcox found themselves in the bottom two, with Dean ultimately being the first to leave the competition.
Despite his best efforts, Dean’s cha cha to Boogie Wonderland fell short compared to Willcox’s jive to Nutbush City Limits. Only judge Anton Du Beke voted to save Dean, with the other judges unanimously choosing to keep Willcox in the competition.
In an emotional moment after the verdict, Dean expressed his gratitude for the experience and working with his partner Nadiya Bychkova. Bychkova praised Dean as a true gentleman and a hard worker.
The show also saw standout performances from Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, who received the first scores of nine in the series for her Viennese waltz. Comedian Chris McCausland and DIY SOS star Nick Knowles also impressed the judges with their routines.
With more than six million viewers tuning in, the competition is heating up as the celebrities battle it out on the dancefloor. Stay tuned for more updates and surprises as the season progresses.
