Tragedy struck on a family road trip in Long Island, New York, as shocked motorists witnessed the horrifying moment a doctor fell out of a moving trailer while on her way to watch the eclipse. Dr. Monika Woroniecka, a 58-year-old children’s allergy and immunology specialist, was flung from the Airstream trailer after the wind caused the door to swing open on State Route 12E in Watertown.
According to New York state troopers, the doctor was on a family road trip with her husband driving the 2019 Dodge Ram pulling the trailer when the accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses behind the Airstream reported seeing Dr. Woroniecka hanging onto the door handle before losing her grip and being thrown from the trailer.
First responders rushed Dr. Woroniecka to Samaritan Medical Center’s emergency room, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. State police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, trying to determine whether the door was left ajar or blew open.
