TRM Labs Introduces Transfer Labels, Advancing Blockchain Investigations

SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The world of blockchain intelligence is constantly evolving to combat crypto fraud and financial crime. TRM Labs, a leader in the field, has announced the launch of Transfer Labels, marking the beginning of the third generation of blockchain investigations.

The first generation of blockchain intelligence was focused on raw data, while the second generation introduced attribution, linking addresses to real-world entities. TRM Labs pioneered Behavioral Intelligence in 2020 with the launch of Signatures®, which identifies patterns in transactions indicative of suspicious behavior.

Transfer Labels enrich Behavioral Intelligence by providing context to specific transactions on-chain. This allows investigators to understand the purpose of transactions, such as messages stored on the blockchain, creation of smart contracts, funds being stolen, or ransom payments.

Esteban Castaño, CEO of TRM Labs, stated, “Behavioral Intelligence combines detailed transaction analysis with pattern recognition to provide a clearer picture of blockchain activities. This is a significant development for blockchain investigations, offering both detailed insights and a broader understanding of on-chain events.”

The introduction of Transfer Labels will help law enforcement agencies uncover obfuscation techniques, financial institutions enhance due diligence, and tax authorities detect tax evasion more effectively. TRM Labs is making this technology available to agencies and organizations interested in deepening their understanding of blockchain activities.

TRM Labs provides blockchain intelligence solutions to help financial institutions, cryptocurrency businesses, and public agencies detect and manage crypto-related fraud and financial crime. Their risk management platform includes solutions for cryptocurrency anti-money laundering, transaction monitoring, entity risk scoring, and transaction tracing for investigations.
