Former President Trump has announced that he has agreed to Fox News’ proposal for a debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. The debate is set to take place on September 4 in Pennsylvania, although the exact location has not yet been determined.
Trump revealed the news on his social media platform Truth Social, stating, “I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.” This comes after a previously scheduled debate against President Biden on ABC News was canceled due to Trump’s lawsuit against the network and host George Stephanopoulos.
The moderators for the upcoming debate will be Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. The rules of the debate will be similar to the June 27 CNN debate against Biden, with the addition of an audience for the Fox News event.
Harris, who recently secured enough delegates to officially become the Democratic Party’s nominee for president after Biden dropped out of the race, expressed readiness to debate Trump. She accused him of backpedaling from their previous agreement to debate on ABC News on September 10.
Trump, in response, criticized the Democratic Party for replacing Biden with Harris, calling it an “unconstitutional” move. Despite the change in candidate, Trump stated that he is prepared to face Harris in the debate and highlight their policy differences.
The debate between Trump and Harris is expected to be a highly anticipated event, especially as it falls just before the start of early voting in the 2024 Presidential Election. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
