Former President Trump Secures More Delegates in Michigan Republican Caucuses
Former President Donald Trump continues to solidify his lead in the race for the Republican nomination, as he won more delegates from Saturday’s Michigan Republican caucuses. Trump decisively won the state’s primary earlier in the week, beating out his closest competitor, Haley, by a significant margin.
Republicans gathered in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday to hold a convention that allocated the remaining 39 of the state’s 55 presidential delegates to Trump. This victory comes just days after a Kent County judge affirmed the removal of former Michigan GOP Chair Kristina Karamo, officially handing the state party over to former Rep. Pete Hoekstra.
Michigan Republicans were forced to split their primary into two parts due to a violation of the national Republican Party’s rules by the state government. Despite this setback, Trump’s dominance in the state has been evident, with a strong showing in both the primary and caucuses.
Trump’s team has expressed confidence in securing the GOP nomination by the end of the month, but Haley remains in the race, pledging to continue until at least March 5 when 16 states hold Super Tuesday primaries. With over 800 delegates at stake on Super Tuesday, the competition is far from over.
As Trump continues to rack up victories in the primary battles, the race for the Republican nomination remains highly competitive. Stay tuned for more updates on the evolving political landscape.
