Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill has made shocking allegations against one of the police officers who arrested him in Miami on Sunday. In an interview on Amazon Prime Video, Hill claimed that the officer pinched him on the neck and tried to provoke him during the arrest.
The bodycam footage released by the Miami-Dade Police Department did not provide a clear shot of Hill’s neck during the arrest, but it did show multiple officers’ hands near his neck at different times. The officer who put Hill in handcuffs, identified as 27-year veteran Danny Torres, has been placed on administrative duties pending an investigation.
Hill and his attorneys have called for Torres to be fired, alleging mistreatment not only towards Hill but also towards his teammates. The incident has sparked debates about whether Hill or the police officer was at fault, with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith criticizing the police for excessive force.
Former NBA star Charles Barkley also weighed in, criticizing the media for focusing on Hill’s race in the coverage of the incident. Despite the controversy, Hill has stated that he will not kneel during the national anthem or call for defunding the police in response to the incident.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
