The US has issued a stern warning to Israel, giving them 30 days to improve humanitarian aid access in Gaza or face potential cuts in US military assistance. The letter, sent on Sunday, highlights the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, particularly in the al-Mawasi area where 1.7 million Palestinians are at high risk of lethal contagion due to extreme overcrowding.

Israel has been accused of denying or impeding nearly 90% of humanitarian movements between the north and south of Gaza, leading to a shortage of essential supplies for the 400,000 Palestinians in the northern region. The US, as the biggest supplier of arms to Israel, is urging concrete actions to increase aid supplies, including allowing a minimum of 350 lorries a day to enter Gaza and ending the isolation of the northern region.

The Israeli military offensive in northern Gaza has caused a significant number of civilian casualties, prompting concerns from international organizations like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Families in northern Gaza are facing unimaginable fear and loss, with many unable to leave their homes due to safety concerns.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with ongoing violence and humanitarian crises exacerbating the suffering of the Palestinian population. The US warning to Israel underscores the urgent need for improved access to aid and relief for the people of Gaza.
