Vacheron Constantin Unveils Groundbreaking Chinese Perpetual Calendar Watch
In a world where luxury watches are constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, Vacheron Constantin has once again raised the bar with their latest creation – a Chinese perpetual calendar watch that boasts an impressive 63 complications.
The highlight of the watch is the Chinese perpetual calendar, which not only displays the date of the Lunar New Year for the next 20 years but also includes a Gregorian perpetual calendar and a Chinese agricultural perpetual calendar. To accommodate the vast amount of information, the brand had to create eight additional disks, which will need to be changed by a house watchmaker every 20 years.
But the complications don’t stop there. The watch also features a split-seconds column-wheel chronograph, six alarm functions, eight chiming functions, nine astronomical complications, and a world time function. And to ensure precise timekeeping, the watch is equipped with a three-axis tourbillon that has been tested to have an accuracy of plus or minus two seconds a day.
Despite the incredible feat of engineering, Vacheron Constantin has chosen not to file a patent for the Chinese perpetual calendar, citing a desire to keep the details of their innovation under wraps.
In a statement, Mr. Selmoni, a representative of Vacheron Constantin, explained, “When applying for patents, it is essential to give a very precise description of the innovation, including technical drawings, as well as to put the invention into perspective in relation to existing solutions. In other words, you are indeed protecting your invention, yet you are also providing the technical details.”
With its groundbreaking features and meticulous craftsmanship, the Vacheron Constantin Chinese perpetual calendar watch is sure to captivate watch enthusiasts and collectors alike.
