Banksy Strikes Again with New Artwork of Pelicans Above Fish and Chip Shop in London
The elusive street artist Banksy has once again left his mark on London, this time with a stunning new artwork featuring two pelicans above a fish and chip shop in Walthamstow. The image, which shows the birds in silhouette, fishing above the shop on the corner of Pretoria Avenue and Northcote Road, has been confirmed as Banksy’s work.
This latest piece is just one of several new artworks that Banksy has unveiled in London this week. On Monday, a goat appeared near Kew Bridge, followed by an image of two elephants touching trunks in Chelsea on Tuesday. However, the elephant artwork was later defaced with white stripes on Friday.
On Wednesday, three monkeys hanging from a bridge in Brick Lane drew crowds, and on Thursday, a howling wolf on a satellite dish was spotted in Peckham. Unfortunately, the wolf artwork was believed to have been stolen shortly after it was installed.
Local residents have been thrilled by Banksy’s latest creations, with one resident describing the experience as “genuinely really exciting.” Another spectator mentioned how they rushed out to see the new artwork as soon as they found out about it.
The Banksy press team has confirmed that they believe one of the artworks, featuring three monkeys hanging from a bridge, has been stolen. The Metropolitan Police have been called to reports of a stolen satellite dish containing artwork, but no arrests have been made.
Despite the challenges of vandalism and theft, Banksy’s art series is set to continue over the coming days, delighting and surprising Londoners with each new piece.
