The Battle of the Bluegrass just got even more intense as Western Kentucky University (WKU) and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) gear up for their upcoming matchup. The rivalry took a cheeky turn when EKU decided to wear white uniforms, prompting WKU to make a last-minute change to their red jerseys.

According to NCAA rules, both teams must agree on a potential uniform switch before kickoff, and EKU exercised their right as the visiting team to wear white. This decision forced WKU to switch to their red jerseys for the game.

WKU expressed disappointment in EKU’s decision, stating that they had planned a “white out” game for their home opener and had been promoting it for months. Despite the change, WKU is still encouraging fans to attend the game in their all-white attire.

Adding to the drama, EKU posted the exact uniforms they will be wearing for the game, hyping up the Battle of the Bluegrass even more. Both teams are coming off tough losses in their season openers, with WKU falling to Alabama 63-0 and EKU losing to Mississippi State 56-7.

This will be the first Battle of the Bluegrass since 2017, as WKU transitioned from FCS to FBS football. The game is sure to be a heated matchup between the two rivals, with WKU looking to come out on top despite the uniform controversy.
