After two decades, the beloved children’s TV show Balamory is set to make a comeback, much to the delight of fans young and old. BBC Children’s and Education has announced that the Bafta-winning pre-school programme, which originally aired from 2002 to 2005, will be rebooted for CBeebies in 2026.

The show, set in the fictional town of Balamory in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, captured the hearts of viewers with its colorful characters and catchy theme tune. The new series is expected to include some of the original characters, bringing back memories for those who grew up watching the show.

Julie Wilson Nimmo, who played nursery teacher Miss Hoolie in the original series, expressed her excitement about the news, calling it the “craziest and best news ever.” Other cast members, such as Andrew Agnew (PC Plum) and Miles Jupp (Archie the inventor), have also shown interest in returning to the show.

The new episodes will be filmed in Scotland, either in Tobermory or another location like Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. The BBC is currently seeking ideas from producers for two series of ten 14-minute episodes, promising a fresh take on the beloved show.
