A luxury yacht, the Bayesian, sank off the coast of Sicily during freak weather early on Monday morning, sparking a dramatic rescue mission. Of the 22 people on board, 15 were rescued, but tragically, the vessel’s cook, Recaldo Thomas, lost his life. The search continues for the remaining six missing individuals, including British businessman Mike Lynch, who was recently acquitted of fraud in the US.
Among the missing are also Hannah Lynch, daughter of Mike Lynch, Chris Morvillo, a lawyer who represented Lynch in his trial, Neda Morvillo, a jewellery designer and wife of Chris Morvillo, Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International bank and insurance company Hiscox, and his wife Judy Bloomer, a charity trustee and supporter.
The rescued survivors include Charlotte Golunski, a British mother who heroically saved her baby girl during the ordeal, Ayla Ronald, a lawyer who was part of Lynch’s legal team, and Angela Bacares, Lynch’s wife and Hannah Lynch’s mother.
The tragic incident has left many families and friends devastated, with rescue workers continuing their search for the missing individuals. The story unfolds with tales of heroism, loss, and hope as the search and rescue efforts persist off the coast of Sicily.
