Sabrina Carpenter, the US singer behind two of this summer’s biggest songs, has made history in the UK charts. According to the Official Charts Company, Carpenter has become the first female artist to hold both the number one and number two positions on the singles chart for three consecutive weeks.

Her songs “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” have been dominating the charts, with “Please Please Please” holding the top spot and “Espresso” coming in at number two. Interestingly, despite being in second place, “Espresso” actually recorded slightly more streams than “Please Please Please” in the last week.

Both songs will be featured on Carpenter’s upcoming album, Short ‘n Sweet, set to be released in August. Carpenter’s success puts her in the company of music legends like The Beatles, Justin Bieber, and Ed Sheeran, who have also achieved similar chart feats in the past.

In addition to Carpenter’s record-breaking success, Taylor Swift continues to reign supreme on the album chart with her album “The Tortured Poets Department.” The album has been the best-selling album of the year so far, accumulating over 542,000 chart units since its release in April.

Other artists like Imagine Dragons, Dua Lipa, SZA, and Shania Twain have also seen a boost in sales thanks to their performances at the recent Glastonbury Festival. Coldplay’s headline set at the festival also helped propel their new track “feelslikeimfallinginlove” to a new peak on the singles chart.

Overall, it’s been an exciting week in the music industry, with Carpenter and Swift leading the way with their chart-topping success.
