Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and UFC President Dana White are teaming up with Tunnel to Towers to support the family of fallen law enforcement officer Onondaga Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Hoosock, who was tragically shot and killed in an ambush in New York.
The two law enforcement officials, Deputy Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, were killed in a shootout when a suspect opened fire outside a residence. Despite being rushed to Upstate University Hospital for urgent medical care, both officers, as well as the suspect, succumbed to their injuries.
Deputy Hoosock leaves behind his wife, Kate, and three young children. Tunnel to Towers founder Frank Siller announced that the organization will pay off the family’s mortgage, providing much-needed support during this difficult time.
Barstool Sports is also lending a hand by selling Onondaga County Sheriff tees, with Portnoy personally matching sales from the Barstool tees. Together, they have raised about $800,000 for Deputy Hoosock’s family.
This is not the first time Tunnel to Towers and Barstool Sports have come together to support a fallen law enforcement officer’s family. Less than a month ago, they helped the family of NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, who was also killed in the line of duty.
Siller emphasized the importance of supporting these families, noting the increase in police officer deaths this year. He highlighted the selfless nature of law enforcement officers, who put their lives on the line to protect others, and the need to ensure their families are taken care of in times of tragedy.
Portnoy expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and emphasized the importance of continuing to help these families in need. While money cannot erase the pain of losing a loved one, it can provide some relief during a difficult time.
